An introduction to the variety of services available to people looking for options to nursing home care.  The guide explains the variety of community resources available for each of the eleven (11) Area Agencies on Aging in Kansas, with examples of how people are using those services to remain in their homes.
 

 
A 96-page book describing the facts and myths about mental health and aging.
 

 
An easy to read book that covers such areas as Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, retirement, guardianship, living wills, SSI, home services, tax relief and more.  Question and Answer format.
 

 
A 15 page brochure that describes the HCBS-FE program.  This program may provide long-term care services for seniors age 65 & over who are Medicaid eligible.
 

 
An 18 page booklet from the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services that gives an overview of things to consider when selecting a nursing home.
 

 
This is put out by the Kansas Insurance Department and is a great tool for selecting a supplement insurance policy and gives comparisons for different companies' policies and price and the rating of the insurance company.

A Consumer's guide to Special Care Units for persons with Dementia.  A booklet on how to select a special care unit in a nursing home.
 

 
An easy-to-read 60 page book that contains information on referral sources to assist the Parkinson's disease patient and their caregivers.  Includes a general overview of the disease, medications, safety and comfort, excercises, and support groups.
